Position #1: Outreach Information Officer – Community Ambassador Program

About the Role
Are you passionate about promoting local pride and engaging with your community? The Trent Hills Chamber of Commerce is launching a Community Ambassador Program—and we’re looking for a dynamic Outreach Information Officer to make it happen!
You’ll coordinate the design, launch, and management of the program, while also assisting visitors at our Information Centre, helping them discover everything Trent Hills has to offer.
Eligibility Requirements
Students hired for this position must meet the eligibility criteria for the Summer Employment Opportunities Program. To be considered, applicants must:
- Be currently enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary institution, or have graduated within the past six months.
- Provide proof of student enrollment to the employer.
- Be residents of Ontario during the period of employment and be living in Ontario at the time they start work.
- Be legally eligible to work in Canada and possess a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN).
What You’ll Do
Program Development & Launch
- Build the framework for the Community Ambassador Program
- Create training resources and application materials
- Recruit and onboard local ambassadors
Training & Support
- Deliver workshops on the Trent Hills Brand, local attractions, and hospitality
- Maintain ongoing communication with ambassadors
- Offer tools and updates
Marketing & Promotion
- Launch a public awareness campaign
- Host a community launch event
- Share ambassador highlights on social media and local media
Community Engagement
- Coordinate ambassador attendance at local events, festivals, and markets
- Collect visitor feedback to improve services
- Promote tourism and build local pride
Program Tracking & Recognition
- Track participation, engagement, and outreach metrics
- Prepare progress reports
- Organize recognition and thank-you events
Visitor Information Centre Support
- Greet and assist walk-in visitors
- Register overnight boating guests
- Keep brochures stocked and the shower facility clean and tidy
- Help answer inquiries by phone, email, and in person
What We’re Looking For
- A recent graduate or enrolled in a tourism, hospitality, marketing, economic development, or related program
- Energetic and confident communicator
- Organized, self-motivated, and creative
- Comfortable leading workshops and public speaking
- Familiar with Canva, Zoom, Microsoft Office, and social media
- Knowledge of Trent Hills is a huge plus
Working Conditions
- Includes both office time and community-based outreach
- Some evenings/weekends required

Position #2: Tourism Information Officer

- Status: Temporary – Summer 2025, beginning on or about June 23, 2025

- Compensation: $18.00 per hour
- Hours: 35 hours per week, including weekends

About the Role
The Trent Hills Chamber of Commerce is excited to offer an opportunity for a motivated individual to join our team as a Tourism Information Officer this summer! You’ll be the welcoming face at the Trent Hills Visitor Information Centre, supporting visitors, assisting with marina services, and contributing to local tourism development initiatives.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about promoting local tourism, developing customer service skills, and gaining hands-on experience in visitor services and destination marketing.
What You’ll Do
- Greet visitors at the Trent Hills Visitor Centre and provide friendly, knowledgeable information about local attractions, events, accommodations, and dining options.
- Manage overnight boating registrations and kayak rentals through an online reservation system.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in public washrooms and boater shower facilities.
- Update tourism business databases and visitor materials as needed.
- Restock brochures, maps, and promotional materials for public distribution.
- Support tourism marketing and destination development projects.
- Customize specific duties to help develop your career skills (depending on your goals).
- Water safety and paddling experience are considered an asset for marina-related duties (assisting with kayak rentals).
What We’re Looking For
- Familiarity with the Trent Hills area (or enthusiasm to learn quickly)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Commitment to maintaining health and safety protocols
- Ability to lift 23 kg.
Eligibility Requirements
This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program, and applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee protection
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada under applicable laws (Please note: International students are not eligible under this program.)
